This technique enables the detection of infectious or parasitic agents, or infection markers using a color reaction. It concerns our rapid Speed test range.
The sample to be tested is dropped into the well and reaches the conjugate. Specific antibodies labeled with gold colloïd coloured particles (yellow) detect the target proteins (e.g. antigen or antibody, in green on the picture).
When present in the sample, the target protein form immunological complexes with the conjugate's coloured antibodies. A liquid reagent then bring them to the test band by capillary action.
Target complexes are captured by secondary antibodies bound onto the test line (orange). When the desired agent is present, the coloured particles accumulate to form a pink band visible to the naked eye.
Immunofluorescence technology is a variant of immunochromatography. It is used for our range of Speed biomarkers.
Like rapid immunochromatography, rapid immunofluorescence uses a test membrane and a migration reagent to deliver a result in just a few minutes.
However, the antibodies are coupled to fluorescent particles (fluorophores) that are not visible to the naked eye, allowing specific detection of certain proteins or blood hormones (biomarkers).
The fluorescent antibodies may be in the liquid phase in the migration reagent, which is why the kits need to be kept cold.
The main difference with the Lateral Flow technique lies in the revelation of the reaction, which in ImmunoFluorescence is necessarily done using a fluorescence analyser equipped with a laser optical system.
The machine can then convert the immunological reaction into a quantitative result.
