Speed Cortisol gives accurate quantitative results, directly at the patient's bedside in 15 minutes only. 180265_Device_Speed-Reader_right.png

  •  Speed Cortisol enables veterinarians to test for canine hypocorticism or hypercorticism in a single test, thanks to its extended operating range and low sample volume requirement.

  •  Thanks to the Speed Reader technology, Speed Cortisol test kits enable precise and fully quantitative assay, previously validated by a laboratory reference method.

  •  Speed Cortisol makes it possible to detect and monitor disease progression and treatment efficacy during a single visit.

For veterinary use only.

Why using Speed Cortisol ?

Cortisol is secreted by the adrenal glands under the control of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

Measuring cortisol in the blood helps to detect and diagnose hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and hypoadrenocorticism (Addison's disease) in dogs, thanks to an ACTH stimulation test.

When to use Speed Cortisol ?

Speed Cortisol can be used both for screening purposes and as a follow-up to adapt treatment.

Hypercorticism is more common in dogs aged 6 years and over, especially females. The combination of various side effects of excessive cortisol production leads to Cushing's disease.

Hypocorticism is more common in young dogs (under 6 years of age), and in females as well. Mineralocorticoid deficiency induced by adrenal insufficiency leads to Addison's disease.

Speed Cortisol can therefore be used as part of an ACTH stimulation test to detect the presence of hyper/hypocorticism.

Quick guide

Remove tests, reagents and samples from the refrigerator 30 minutes before analysis, so that test materials are at room temperature.

Start a “new test” on the Speed Reader or from Speed Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

Recommendations

  • Only use serum for the sample.
  • Serum or plasma should be used at room temperature within the hour, and can be stored in a dry tube in the refrigerator, separated from the red blood cell pellet, for 7 days. After that, the sample should be frozen at -20°C.
  • Cool or freeze samples at room temperature before use (do not heat).
  • Follow protocol steps and incubation times precisely.
  • Follow the pipetting method indicated in the test instructions.
  • Never mix reagents, test cassettes and calibration chips from one batch to another.

Speed Cortisol performances

Validation of Speed Cortisol versus chemiluminescence immuno-enzymatic (CLEIA) method on plasma/serum samples :

             Dogs (N=340)
Regression y=0,95x - 7,649
Correlation R2=0,927

Speed Cortisol han excellent correlation with the reference CLEIA dosage in dogs.
