  • Speed Progesterone enables the vet to monitore the bitch's heat cycle, in order to detect the ideal mating or insemination date as accurately as possible.

  • Speed Progesterone increases the chances of pregnancy by optimising the number of matings or inseminations.

  • Thanks to Speed Reader technology, Speed Progesterone allows fully quantitative, accurate dosing validated with a reference method on a laboratory analyser.

For veterinary use only.

Why use Progesterone ?

The reproductive cycle is highly variable in individual bitches, making it difficult to predict reproduction.

20% of bitches ovulate ‘outside’ the period between the 10th and 14th day of heat.

Regular progesterone measurements from the start of the heat period, combined with vaginal smears, enable the ovulatory peak to be detected and the mating or insemination to be programmed to give the best chance of pregnancy.

When to measure Progesterone ?

After monitoring the stages of pro-oestrus using smears, Speed Progesterone can be used to determine the optimum date for mating or insemination.

Before ovulation, the progesterone concentration generally fluctuates between 0 and 1 ng/mL, then increases progressively at the time of the LH peak to reach 5 to 10 ng/mL at the time of ovulation.

The veterinary surgeon will plan the follow-up dates according to the results of the analyses on a personalised basis.

Quick guide

Remove the tests, reagents and samples from the refrigerator 30 minutes before analysis so that the test material is at room temperature.

Start a ‘new test’ on the Speed Reader or from Speed Connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

Recommandations

  • Do not use EDTA or whole blood for the sample.
  • The serum or plasma must be used at room temperature within one hour, and can be stored separated from the red blood cell pellet in a dry tube in the refrigerator for 3 days. After this period, the sample should be frozen at -20°C.
  • Cool or freeze samples at room temperature before use (do not heat).
  • Strictly follow the steps in the protocol and the incubation time.
  • Follow the pipetting method indicated in the test instructions for use.
  • Never mix reagents, test cassettes and calibration chips from one batch to another.

Speed Progesterone performance

Validation of the Speed Progesterone test versus the electrochemiluminescence method (CLEIA) on plasma/serum samples:

Bitches (N=165)
Linear regression y=1,023x + 0,325
Correlation R2=0,934

Speed Progesterone correlates very well with the reference chemiluminescence enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in bitches.
